Once again, the US House of Representatives has passed a bill that may require ByteDance to sell TikTok. This legislation, initially approved in March, has been amended to extend the deadline for ByteDance to sell TikTok from six months to one year.

According to The Washington Post, the revised bill is expected to be voted on in the US Senate soon. The law still grants the President of the United States the authority to ban apps owned by 'foreign adversaries' in the country.

The legislation also allows the companies behind these apps to sell their assets. In the previous version of the bill, which was passed in March of this year, companies were given 165 days to divest from these applications; this period has now been extended to 360 days in the new bill. American lawmakers aim to enhance the 'national security' of the country through this law.
