Tesla Announces Official Launch of Enhanced FSD (Supervised) Autonomous Driving System in the US

Tesla has officially taken its Full Self Driving system out of beta in the United States. The company now refers to its autonomous driving system as 'FSD (Supervised)' and states that it has been enhanced in terms of capabilities. Full Self Driving had been in beta testing for over three years.

One key difference with FSD (Supervised) compared to the beta version of FSD is that the software is now trained on millions of video clips instead of traditional C++ code. Tesla claims that this change has made the self-driving software more effective. The details of this update can be found in the release notes for version 2024.3.10, as reported by Not A Tesla App.

With FSD (Supervised), a Tesla vehicle is able to autonomously change lanes, follow navigation routes, avoid obstacles, and make turns. It is important to note that Tesla stresses the system is "not fully autonomous" and users are required to remain attentive while using it. Currently, FSD (Supervised) is only accessible in the United States.
