Supermassive Games, a prominent British game developer known for its horror titles such as Until Dawn and The Quarry, is set to downsize its workforce by laying off 90 employees. This decision, as reported by Bloomberg, comes after informing 150 employees that their jobs are at risk.

The studio made the announcement regarding the restructuring on social media platform X. According to Bloomberg, this reduction in workforce accounts for nearly a third of the total employee count, which currently stands at over 300 individuals.

In compliance with British legislation, Supermassive Games provided advance notice to its employees about the impending layoffs. The company cited 'major challenges' in the gaming industry as the primary reason behind the downsizing. This move follows similar recent layoffs at companies like Riot Games, Unity, and Eidos-Montréal.
