Sony Temporarily Halts PlayStation VR2 Production Due to Unsold Inventory Surpassing Expectations

Sony has shipped approximately 1.7 million units of its PlayStation VR2 to date. This is reported by the financial news agency Bloomberg. That is less than Sony expected which is why production is now temporarily halted.

Deliveries have decreased every quarter since the release early last year Bloomberg reports. In the holiday quarter Sony delivered just under 350000 deliveries according to the news agency. Because sales are disappointing the manufacturer has temporarily halted production of the device so that unsold stock can be sold.

That unsold stock is around 300000 because Sony has released more than two million units so far produce. Sony declined to comment on the information. The company announced a round of layoffs at the end of last month.
