Sony has taken the decision to remove Helldivers 2 from Steam across 177 different countries. In these regions, it is not possible to create a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, which will soon be mandatory for playing the game. The affected countries, as listed on SteamDB, primarily include regions in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Reports also suggest that Steam may have simplified the process of refunding Helldivers 2. A screenshot circulating on X indicates that the PC version of the game can now be refunded after 97 hours of gameplay. However, it remains unclear whether Steam has officially revised its refund policy for Helldivers 2, as the company has not made any formal announcement regarding this matter.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced in early May that PC players of Helldivers 2 would be required to link their Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account. This mandatory measure was set to take effect on May 6, with all Helldivers 2 PC players required to complete the account linking process by June 4 to continue playing the game. Sony stated that this measure aimed to enhance player protection against misconduct by certain individuals.

Helldivers 2, a third-person shooter, was initially released on February 8, 2024, for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. The game's release was originally scheduled for the previous year but was delayed for several months. The original Helldivers game was released in 2015, and Tweakers published an in-depth review of the game.
