Sonos Set to Launch Long-Awaited Headphones in June after Software Delays, Insiders Say

Sonos is anticipated to launch its upcoming headphones in June, as reported by insiders to Bloomberg. Initially targeted for a May release, the headphones reportedly faced a setback due to software issues. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman states that the headphones are expected to hit the market in the first half of June, delayed by a month due to a bug affecting the product's WiFi connectivity during validation testing.

Sonos is actively working on a solution, and the release schedule might be adjusted depending on how swiftly the bug can be resolved. The rumored price for the headphones is $449.

While Sonos has not officially confirmed the headphones' arrival, speculation has circulated for years. The acquisition of T2 in 2022, a company specializing in headphones, fueled the rumors. Sonos had also featured headphones in a 2020 patent application.

CEO Patrick Spence confirmed in 2023 that Sonos would enter a new product category in 2024, likely referring to headphones. During the recent quarterly earnings call, Spence indicated that the new product would be announced and released in the third quarter of fiscal 2024, concluding on June 31.
