According to insider information, Nvidia has reportedly turned down Samsung's latest HBM chips due to concerns over overheating and power consumption. The chips, intended for use in AI GPUs, have not met Nvidia's performance standards, as reported by Reuters.

Samsung's HBM3 and HBM3E chips, expected to hit the market in the coming months, have encountered issues during testing. Despite efforts to improve the chips' performance since last year, sources indicate that power consumption and overheating remain problematic. Samsung's recent failed tests of the 8-layer and 12-layer HBM3E chips in April have raised concerns among investors.

Both Samsung and Nvidia have not provided details on the specific reasons for the test failures. With competitors like SK Hynix and Micron also entering the HBM3E chip market, there is pressure for Samsung to address the issues promptly. Reuters' inquiries to both companies have gone unanswered.
