Microsoft has recently unveiled its latest model of the Surface Laptop, which boasts a Snapdragon X Plus or Elite SoC from Qualcomm rather than the usual Core Ultra processor from Intel. The new laptop is set to hit the market in mid-June with a starting price of $999.

According to Microsoft's announcement, the upcoming laptop will come in two sizes - 13.8" or 15" - both featuring a 120Hz refresh rate touchscreen display. Microsoft claims that the new laptop is significantly faster than its predecessor, but exact performance figures have not been disclosed. The company does however promise a battery life of up to 22 hours for local video playback.

The new Surface Laptop will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Plus and Elite chips, which feature custom Arm cores designed by Qualcomm. These chips also incorporate technology from Nuvia, a chip design company recently acquired by Qualcomm. The laptop will support up to 32GB of memory and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Additionally, the new Surface Laptop is part of Microsoft's Copilot+ PC program, which requires a minimum of 16GB memory, 256GB SSD storage, and an NPU with at least 40TOPS AI computing power. This allows for compatibility with new Windows 11 AI features like Recall, which enables users to easily search their OS activity.

The Surface Laptop is currently available for pre-order on the Microsoft website, with the 13.8" model starting at $1000 and the 15" model priced at $1300. The laptop is expected to be released on June 18th in four different colors.
