Microsoft issues a warning that as of October 14, 2025, all apps released through the Office 2016 and 2019 suites, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, will no longer receive support. This also includes the end of support for Windows 10 on the same date.

After the specified date, any Office 2016 and 2019 apps that are in end-of-life status will no longer be getting new features updates, security updates, or customer service support, as mentioned by Microsoft in a recent blog post. Using software beyond this date could pose security risks, lead to reduced productivity, and cause compatibility issues. As a result, it is recommended that companies transition to the Microsoft 365 E3 cloud suite, which offers similar programs. The important deadline has been set for some time now, but Microsoft emphasizes in the provided blog post what actions users should take next.

For companies unable to upgrade their systems or gain access to the cloud, Microsoft suggests looking into the Office Long-Term Servicing Channel. The support for Office LTSC 2021 will also come to an end in October 2026. Microsoft also notes that companies utilizing Exchange Servers that will no longer be supported from 2025 can opt to upgrade to the next version of the service in the latter half of 2025. In the meantime, Exchange Server 2019 is recommended by the company.

Starting October 14, 2025, Microsoft will cease support for the following apps and productivity servers:
