Introducing the Orange Pi 5 Pro: A Powerful Single-Board Computer with AI Capabilities

The innovative Chinese company Orange Pi unveiled its latest creation - the Orange Pi 5 Pro. This single-board computer boasts a faster SoC and a neural processing unit that enables the device to efficiently run AI applications, particularly image recognition, as claimed by the company.

The Orange Pi 5 Pro is designed with a form factor reminiscent of the popular Raspberry Pi. The key highlight of the 5 Pro is its upgraded hardware, featuring the powerful Rockchip RK3588S SoC equipped with four Cortex A76 and four Cortex A55 cores. Additionally, it incorporates a Mali G610 GPU and an NPU which enhances its AI capabilities, supporting a maximum of six TOPs.

Users have the option to select from variants offering 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of Lpddr5 RAM. The board includes a micro SD slot and supports expandable storage through NVMe or SATA SSDs via an M.2 slot. For connectivity, it offers two HDMI ports - one supporting 2.1 and the other HDMI 2.0, enabling 8k image display at a stable 60fps. Furthermore, the device features a Gigabit Ethernet port with Power-over-Ethernet support, along with two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.1 ports, akin to the Raspberry Pi.

Measuring at 89x56x1.6mm, the Orange Pi 5 Pro is versatile and compatible with various operating systems including OrangePi OS, Ubuntu, Debian, and Android 12. While the release date and pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the prospects of this advanced single-board computer are undoubtedly promising.
