6 months ago 1405

Introducing the latest innovation from Honda - an electric SUV that combines a rechargeable battery with a hydrogen fuel cell. Known as the Honda CR-V e:FCEV, this vehicle offers the flexibility of being charged electrically or refueled with hydrogen. Initially, the EV will be available exclusively in California.

The Honda CR-V e:FCEV is equipped with a powerful hydrogen fuel cell boasting a capacity of 92.2kW, as well as a battery pack with a capacity of 17.3kWh. The electric motor situated between the front wheels delivers an impressive 174 hp and 310 Nm of torque. With an electric driving range of around 50 kilometers and a total range of approximately 430 kilometers, this SUV offers both efficiency and practicality.

Charging the FCEV is made convenient with the option of using a regular charging station. The plug-in hybrid hydrogen car is capable of bidirectional charging at a rate of 1.5 kW and can also be refueled at hydrogen filling stations. While the number of hydrogen filling stations is limited, California, where the CR-V e:FCEV will first be introduced, boasts around 55 such stations.

In terms of features, the Honda hydrogen EV is equipped with a 10.2" dashboard, a 9" touchscreen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an audio system featuring twelve Bose speakers. Consumers in California can look forward to leasing this cutting-edge vehicle later this year, although pricing details have yet to be revealed.

Despite the promising technology, hydrogen cars have yet to gain widespread popularity. Factors such as high production costs for hydrogen fuel cells and the relatively expensive refueling process have hindered their adoption. Nevertheless, Honda continues to innovate in this space, building on past experiences with models like the Clarity. Renault has also explored similar concepts in the past, although its hydrogen-powered offering remains a concept car without a market release.
