HBO Max customers who now have 4K and Dolby Atmos in their subscription will continue to do so after the announced changes of June 11. The streaming service reports this on /hbo-max-gets-new-subscription-types-and-comes-to-belgium-in-july.html">earlier this weekthree new subscriptions that will replace the current subscription. This concerns a basic subscription with advertising a standard subscription that allows streaming in 1080p and a premium option with 4K and Dolby Atmos. Subscribers who have been members of HBO Max since the beginning will be automatically transferred to the new standard subscription and will retain their 50 percent discount.
That announcement raised questions among several users. Customers who have been members of HBO Max since the beginning can already stream in 4K and with Dolby Atmos with the current subscription. The subscription change suggests that they will soon have to switch to premium and therefore pay more.
HBO Max now clarifies on Xthat this is not the case. "If you currently have a subscription that includes 4K you can continue to stream supported titles in 4K/Dolby Atmos when the revamped HBO Max launches. We'll let you know in advance if we need to make any changes to this in the future" the company says in replies to miscellaneous X-messages. Only new subscribers must therefore purchase a premium subscription to stream in 4K and with Dolby Atmos.
