Reports indicate that hackers recently breached a Hotbird satellite operated by Eutelsat, allowing them to broadcast a Russian propaganda video on BabyTV, as reported by Nu.nl. The exact methods used in this hack remain unclear.

Sources suggest that Eutelsat fell victim to a sophisticated cyber attack last week, leading to the compromised broadcast on BabyTV. A video shared by a Nu.nl reader depicted images of Russian President Putin and the Russian flag being aired on the channel, which reportedly reached viewers in the Netherlands, Portugal, and Scandinavian countries. This incident marks the first known instance of a TV broadcast being hijacked through satellite hacking in the Netherlands.

In response to inquiries from Observador, Eutelsat described the incident as being caused by "external radio frequency interference affecting some video services for a short duration and a limited number of customers." The company is currently investigating the breach and implementing measures to prevent future attacks. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for BabyTV referred to the disruptions as "unexpected interruptions." The identity of the hackers responsible for the breach remains unknown.
