A group of Belgian companies are joining forces to share their knowledge about quantum computers through a consortium known as Quantum Circle. Members of this consortium include Belfius, Proximus, IBM, and various government entities.

Quantum Circle is an innovative initiative aimed at uniting Belgian companies and institutions to create a collaborative environment for quantum computing. The goal is to establish a technology ecosystem centered around quantum computers, while fostering partnerships between academic institutions, research centers, and both public and private sectors. The organization also emphasizes the importance of advancing research and education in the field of quantum computing.

According to a white paper released by the consortium, they plan to focus on four key principles within quantum computing: cryptography, simulation, optimization, and machine learning. These principles span a variety of use cases that can benefit from enhanced performance in quantum technology. The organizations involved aim to implement quantum computing in sectors such as finance, aviation, and the chemical industry.

Currently, the consortium consists of twenty affiliated institutions, including Proximus, Belfius, imec, IBM, and the Flemish Ministry of the Interior. Other companies and organizations are encouraged to register if they wish to participate in this collaborative effort.
