Apple is set to introduce a new 'Slim' model in the iPhone 17 series, replacing the Plus model, as per recent speculations. The upcoming device is rumored to feature a 6.55" or 6.6" screen, a slight change from the 6.7" screen seen in the iPhone 14 Plus models.

Analyst Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants shared on social media that the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to sport a 6.55" screen. This adjustment in screen size is aimed at distinguishing the Slim model from the iPhone 17 Pro Max, with the Slim being larger than the regular iPhone 17 and 17 Pro models, which are anticipated to feature screens of 6.1" and 6.3" respectively. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to boast a 6.9" display.

Recently, analyst Jeff Pu also indicated in a report that Apple will unveil an 'iPhone 17 Slim' instead of the traditional Plus model. Pu mentioned that in addition to the name change, the device will sport a slightly smaller 6.6" screen. Despite the variations in screen sizes mentioned by Young and Pu, both analysts suggest that the new device will have a display size smaller than the previous iPhone Plus models. Pu also suggested that the device will feature an A18 or A19 SoC, 8GB of internal memory, a 24-megapixel selfie camera, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera.

It will be some time before the iPhone 17 series hits the market, considering that Apple launched the iPhone 15 series in September 2023 and is expected to release the iPhone 16 models around September 2024. The anticipation is that the iPhone 17 lineup will follow in 2025. Rumors also suggest that Apple is planning to increase the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro models, with the iPhone 16 Pro rumored to have a 6.3" screen and the 16 Pro Max sporting a 6.9" display.
