Apple is once again in discussions with OpenAI about the possible integration of AI technology in iOS 18. Mark Gurman writes. The two companies are also said to have had discussions earlier this year. The tech journalist believes that no decisions have been made yet.
According to Mark Gurman it is far from certain that a deal will be reached between the two American companies. After all Apple would also sitting at the table with Google about the integration of the Gemini chatbot in iOS 18 and having discussions with AI startup Anthropic about its AI technology. Gurman believes that iOS 18 will include some new AI features.
Some of those features would also use Apple's own language models. The American tech company would look to other third parties for other AI functions. There is a chance that Apple on June 10 will provide more information about iOS 18 and generative AI. The company will then hold its annual developer conference WWDC.
