Amazon is making a significant investment of $150 billion in data centers over the next 15 years. The company is looking to expand its current data centers and construct new facilities to keep up with the potential surge in demand for AI and other digital services.

A recent article from Bloomberg reports that the investments began two years ago and are not limited to the United States. Amazon is also focusing on building data centers in countries like Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, the company is paying closer attention to the availability of local electricity supply.

The challenges of securing sufficient electricity for data centers are highlighted in the Bloomberg article. Tech giants like Amazon are facing difficulties in some regions. Earlier this month, Amazon acquired a data center from an American energy producer in Pennsylvania that is situated next to a nuclear power plant. In 2021, Amazon also invested in about half of the power output from the Dutch wind farm Hollandse Kust, which has a capacity of around 759 megawatts.
